  • Abstract
The on demand provision of resources by datacentres has given an edge to Cloud computing and added in the advantage of saving cost in buying number of machines. But it has been observed that datacentres consumes a lot of power and emits a large amount of carbon dioxide that contributes largely to global warming. The rise in global warming has elevated the need for datacentres to adopt such techniques and technologies that can be helpful to overcome the negative impact on environment. This thought has given the birth to green computing which refers to the environment friendly computing. Besides green computing, an effective scheduling approach is required that not only make efficient use of resources but also take into account the green aspect. Therefore this paper focuses on the use of green computing in scheduling. For this, Distributed Interactive Engineering Toolbox (DIET) scheduler is used and a new algorithm is proposed for the DIET scheduler. The proposed algorithm introduces the green aspect in scheduler to effectually make use of resources in such a way that consumption of power and carbon dioxide emission is reduced.
