Abstract
Apparel is rapidly becoming one of the most important sector in e-commerce sales. Yet, apart from a few more or less successful endeavors businesses are basically applying the in situ sales model to distance sales. In this paper, we demonstrate why this "cut and paste" approach does not work and how the computer/software industry may develop on existing technologies (3D Body Scanning, RFID Smart Cards, Smart Mirror) to, at the same time, offer the consumer a more rewarding shopping experience and the industry a more profitable one.
