Abstract
This paper deals with the impact of an inverter station on the torsional dynamics of turbine-generator which is located at the inverter side of a HVDC-AC network power system. The study shows that the torsional stress of turbine-generator depends on the AC network fault locations since it is influential to the commutation failures of an inverter station. The torsional stress induces fatigue in the shaft material, and it reduces the shaft life-time. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the torsional stress of turbine-generator shaft at the inverter side, and find where should be checked in a turbine-generator. The EMTDC program is used for the simulation studies.
