Abstract :
The paper is focused on evaluation of flicker produced by various lamp types as consequence of a Ripple Control Signal (RCS) presence in supply voltage. On the basis of observations the resulting flicker severity differs from values measured according to the EN 61000-4-15 standard and moreover is very variant; depending i.a. on the RCS parameters and on the lamp type used in installation. Considering that the RCS transmitted as telegram carrying information (command) is generally a periodical signal, a specialized testing system utilizing a light flickermeter has been developed and used for the flicker severity assessment and obtained results “objectively” comparing measured lamps response are presented in the paper.
