Abstract :
Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) are used to ensure a continuous and reliable supply to critical loads. Different UPS technologies are available, offering different levels of load protection and power conditioning. This paper discusses various UPS topologies and operating modes, identifying the paths over which a surge or transient voltage may propagate to the critical load. In this context, this paper introduces specific topologies that introduce filtering for fast disturbances and effective attenuation of the resulting overvoltage. These topologies are discusses presenting actual results from testing on high-power UPS.
