Abstract
The development of a finite element model of the fish-machine interactions is required for the analysis of parameters which affect the performance of a fish processing machine. Standard image processing techniques are used to determine the geometric parameters necessary to build the model, and to verify the simulation results. The image processing techniques are tested on Pacific salmon, and are illustrated by an example
