Abstract :
Bacteriophage lambda particle has dimensions similar to those of many mammalian viruses and recent structural evidences revealed a shared ancestry between tailed bacteriophages and mammalian DNA viruses. Considering these features as well as the double-stranded nature of its genome, bacteriophage lambda might comprise a great advantage for phage-mediated gene delivery into eukaryote cells. A recombinant lambda phage, bearing reporter gene GFP (λ-GFP) was constructed and utilized to transfect AGS cell line. λ-GFP particle-mediated GFP expression as well as their internalization by AGS cell line was investigated.
