Abstract :
An optimization procedure based on the genetic algorithm (GA) technique for the design of narrow band-pass filters in rectangular waveguides is presented. The characterization of the filters is carried out by the mode-matching method associated with the generalized scattering matrix technique. Higher order mode interactions between waveguide uniaxial discontinuities are included in the design procedure. The GA is employed to optimize the choice of geometrical parameters of the filter in order to improve theirs performances in pass-band. Results of optimization shows also that filter dimensions are reduced in comparison with reference data.
