Abstract :
Nonlinear phenomena occurred in a wideband helix traveling-wave-tube (TWT) which employed a multi-tone input signal is studied by the 2.5-D Particle-In-Cell (PIC) code, MAGIC, in a large-signal regime. The dielectric-loaded sheath helix slow-wave structure (SWS) is modeled by inhomogeneous loading approach. The nonlinearities are studied by Fourier analysis. The closer two-tone input signals, the more dominant summation frequency components. Otherwise, 3rd order intermodulation and second harmonic components are dominant.
