Abstract
This paper applies the dual iteration numerical technique to the problem of determining the optimal parameters of tuned mass dampers (TMD) systems via static H∞ output feedback control. TMDs installed on the top floor of civil engineering structures can reduce the effects of unwanted inputs disturbance such as earthquake and wind. Simplicity and performance make TMDs attractive compared to sophisticated approaches such as active bracing systems or active mass dampers where multiple sensors and actuators are required for implementation
