Abstract
The introduction of a PI compensating network in a sliding-mode controlled boost regulator can lead to instabilities, subharmonics oscillations, bifurcations and chaos. For constant values of the hysteresis width, the increase of the multiplicative constant of the compensating network causes chaotic behaviour in the converter. Similar phenomena arise for constant values of the multiplicative constant and changes in the hysteresis width
