Abstract
Under different stirring speed, the CFD (computational fluid dynamics) software-FLUENT could be simulated. Flocculation effects were evaluated and the complex phenomenon were interpreted in the process of flocculation, when the turbulence kinetic energy κ, the effective energy dissipation ε and spiral vortex micro dimension λ were introduced as criterions. The aim of the stud y of jar test and numerical simulation was to get the influence to the flocculation on the hydraulic conditions of changing the stirring speed, establishing quantitative relationship among ε, λ, stirring speed and sedimentation rate Es. The fluid in jar test is fine hematite ore (average size 21.35μm) slurry which density is 2%.The flocculant is made of maize starch. Turbulence kinetic energy κ, effective energy dissipation ε and spiral vortex micro dimension λ can interpret the influence of hydraulic conditions on flocculation.
