Abstract :
It is proposed to use the fractal dimension estimation techniques “Alternating Sequential Filter (ASF)” and “Continuous Alternating Sequential Filter (CASF)” to differentiate normal bones from bones that have osteoporosis. Comparison of our methods with existing techniques is done to show the efficacy of our methods. We compare our methods to Power Spectrum Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE) and Morphological Dilation methods of estimating the fractal dimension. Results on synthetic and real life images are presented
