Abstract
The performance of a new type of shaped-beam planar array composed of microstrip antennas was investigated in this study. The basic techniques for the design of an array are also presented in this paper. Several shaped-beam planar arrays were fabricated and tested at the C-band to estimate the performance of the arrays. The results of experiment showed that the test arrays have excellent performance in terms of both radiation patterns and impedance characteristics. This type of array is therefore thought to be an effective model for a shaped-beam low-profile array.
