Abstract :
Most of the existing UWB models suffer from limitations because UWB multipath propagation is frequency and antenna dependent. In this paper, a directional statistical simulator is developed. This simulator implements an extension to the IEEE802.15.3a model which incorporates the directional nature of the channel. The directional simulator allows for studying the impact of the specific antenna on the received profile. It allows for pulse shaping studies and improved receiver design. Positioning application should consider the directional impact of the channel for improved resolution.
