Abstract :
In this work preamplifier for 10Gb/s optical receiver has been designed using shunt peaking inductors to extend preamplifier bandwidth. As well as bandwidth extension, total power consumption for high data rate operation has been considered in circuit design. A modified layout, which utilizes essential bond wire reactance for additional inductive peaking, reduces chip area to 86%. The resultant preamplifier showed 9GHz bandwidth and 80mW low power consumption with 60dBΩ transimpedance gain.
