Abstract :
This paper proposes a methodology for simulating the power supply of a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system comprised of full-electric vehicles. These buses are based in the TOSA Project at Geneva, Switzerland; which are full electric articulated buses that run without overhead lines. As their charging method, flash charging, requires short-time and high-capacity chargers at the stations along a BRT corridor, the impact on the Power Distribution Network (PDN) is determined. In order to define an adequate test case for this study, the model is implemented with the characteristics and restrictions of Transmilenio, the BRT system implemented in Bogotá, Colombia. After the definition of the electrical model and simulation parameters, a methodology of evaluation is proposed. It includes different power and voltage computations at the Point of Common Coupling (PCC) and each power station. The results obtained show the impact on the PDN due to the connection of this e-BRT system, allowing a conclusion about the feasibility of its implementation.
