Abstract :
We have developed a new physiologically based simulation model of the glucose insulin system which describes the main events occurring in a normal life day. The model is based on recent quantitative knowledge that has become available on glucose unit processes during a meal. The model is nonlinear and predicts the time course of glucose and insulin fluxes and pools of a normal subject having breakfast, lunch and dinner. The model provides a realistic framework for examining various facets of the glucoregulatory system and will be the basis for developing a Type I diabetes model
