Abstract
An exact solution of the initial value of step response for lossy nonuniform transmission line is derived. Initial value of the near end response is not influenced by the transmission line loss and if the change in the characteristic impedance is continuous, initial value of the far end response is decided without any relation to the distribution of the characteristic impedance as described.
