Abstract :
Magnetic components are an important part in power electronic systems. They are divided in two groups, those that work at low frequencies and others which work at high frequencies. The high frequency design is used for DC-DC converters since it allows increasing efficiency and also provides isolation between the source and the load. This document shows the design and implementation of a high frequency transformer for a Push - Pull converter for photovoltaic applications able to provide a power up to 200W. Alternative development is proposed to obtain design parameters with reference to practical results and theoretical knowledge, solving the problem of wave distortion caused by the design with the conventional methodology. It also prevents the use of passive components for overcurrent protection, increasing the efficiency of the system without additional components. Practical results of the transformer designed by the conventional method were taken and were compared with the results obtained with the proposed methodology. The push-pull converter was implemented to demonstrate the specific function for which it was designed, showing results of the complete system. It should be noted that the proposed model can be adapted to different requirements and topologies in switch power supplies, including photovoltaic system generation which is the main application for this research.
