  • Abstract
The Econo-PIM module family is a new generation of IGBT-modules for frequency inverter use. In the PIM-modules, a three-phase input rectifier and a three-phase inverter are integrated in one module for the first time. Optionally, a brake-IGBT and a free wheeling diode can be integrated to reduce the overvoltage in the DC-circuit. A NTC-resistor allows to sense the case-temperature in the module. The high degree of integration in the modules makes it necessary to investigate especially the thermal situation in the module very critically. In a realistic application for the PIM-modules, the temperature for every different chip inside the housing in the dynamic operation mode is calculated.
