Abstract :
Generalized multi-protocol label switching (GMPLS) which is also referred as multiprotocol lambda switching, supports devices that not only perform packet switching but also the devices that perform switching in domains of time, wavelength and space. This document provides the comparative analysis of the routing protocols involved in GMPLS networks. Open shortest path first (OSPF) and intermediate system to intermediate system (IS-IS) are the routing protocols being used in GMPLS for intra domain communications. We compare these protocols in terms of their basic features, traffic engineering (TE) extensions and enhancements provided in these protocols for support of GMPLS.
