Abstract :
This paper presents a new kind of microstrip transmission line incorporating 1D helix photonic bandgap (HPBG) unit cell. Finite difference time domain (FDTD) simulation shows that the structure exhibits remarkable bandstop effects. Several cells connected in series form an excellent band-stop filter. Using 1D HPBG unit cells, we also demonstrate a novel high-Q defect resonator.
