Abstract :
Possible improvements in O3 profile retrievals from ground-based millimetre wave and FTIR measurements are discussed. Procedures to handle instrumental uncertainties and techniques to obtain a single profile with high altitude coverage by combining information from both regions are examined. A combination of the methods can give profiles between 10 and 65 km with minor improvement in the range 10-25 km compared to separate retrievals. Best is to append the spectra before inversion but a weighted average of individual profiles is also possible. A new method, solving the problem to find a calibration factor for the FTIR observations, is presented
