Abstract :
The high performance serial bus IEEE1394, also known as Firewire TM will bring the computer environment and the consumer electronics market together, sometimes called convergence. It will become possible for consumers to take their computer and integrate audio/visual components such as televisions, stereos, or DVD-ROM drives simply by using the IEEE1394 connections. The IEEE1394 bus is a powered port architecture and in the Plug-and-Play/Hot-plug environment, reliable and resettable overcurrent protection is a must. Used by leading computer and peripheral manufacturers to protect powered ports, PolySwitch devices have become the standard solution for overcurrent protection. The devices comply with PC98 standards and meet the UL1950/IEC950 safety requirements. The variety of part numbers available allow the designer to select the specific device needed to meet IEEE1394 requirements and the specific requirements of the circuit design. PolySwitch devices provide the lowest-price resettable solution with the highest reliability in a UL recognized package
