  • Abstract
    To improve the efficiency of the transmission planning activity of the Mexican electrical system, the Federal Commission of Electricity of Mexico (CFE) requested the technical services of the Electric Research Institute of Mexico (Instituto de Investigaciones Electricas IIE), to develop a computer system that automatically enables to obtain base-cases and perform system studies for transmission planning. The required system should obtain the base-cases from a network model of the actual electrical system and from information residing in a data base which is constantly being updated containing data such as: demand growth forecast, future network developments, and generation expansion plans. The planning horizon is 10 years. The system developed by IIE drastically reduces the time spent by the analyst to obtain the required base-cases, improving efficiency of the transmission planning activity.
