Abstract :
Road vehicle improve the quality of people´s life, however harmful vehicle exhaust emissions, such as carbon monoxide (CO), nitric oxide (NO), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), hydrocarbon (HC), and sulphur dioxide (SO2), have become more and more unacceptable and endangers human health. To reduce the pollution from road vehicle engines, the first step is to develop accurate monitoring equipments and technologies. This paper reports on developing an optic absorption spectroscopy based gases sensor system with an ADXL210 accelerometer chip based vibration monitoring subsystem to measure the gases of NO, NO2, and SO2, under different engine running states. The study shows the developed gas sensor system is able to work normally under different engine running states. This investigation is the preliminary of the development of microwave catalyst based system for reducing harmful exhaust emissions of road vehicle engines.
