Abstract
This panel summary paper introduces a new method developed for public participation in transmission line routing decisions. The new method is intended to reduce public opposition to new lines, and therefore to reduce the amount of time needed for new line approval and construction. It expands the use of geographic information system (GIS) tools, and involves the public earlier, and in more significant roles, than existing methods
