Abstract :
In digital forensic investigations, reports are used to communicate the results of a digital forensic investigation. In addition to the submission of typed reports, investigators often supplement these reports by using forensic software to generate a detailed report of their analysis. This report includes their evidential findings and also provides logs indicating the steps taken during the examination of digital evidence. Although it may take several months to a year before the case goes to court, investigators must still be able to recall the case facts. In this paper, we propose the development of a conceptual report management tool that graphically organizes the facts of the case. This map would allow investigators and prosecutors to quickly and easily collaborate and review the significant details of the case in preparation for court.
