Abstract :
A newly proposed multiresolution non-uniform directional filter bank (nuDFB) is applied to the problem of texture classification. The classification performance is compared with other critically sampled filter banks, including the conventional directional filter bank and the discrete wavelet transform, and shows that the nuDFB offers a better representation of texture with directional edges.
