Abstract :
The videophones based on Internet protocol (IP) are gaining increasing acceptance because of the enhanced compression capabilities using H.264/MPEG-4 AVC. H.264 offers high compression, but it also demands high degree of complexity. Hence, optimization to the maximum extent is required for designing the H.264 video encoder with real time performance on DSPs. In this paper a highly optimized H.264 baseline profile video encoder on a programmable DSP processor is presented
