Abstract :
We have achieved error free propagation of 10 Gbit/s data over 200000 km without the use of active control. Instead we use nonlinear polarisation rotation with a polarising element to give a saturable absorption effect which suppressed the noise level. Here we have used this technique to allow error free propagation of a 10 Gbit/s 231 -1 PRBS soliton data stream over 200,000 km
