Abstract
In this paper, a short overview of chosen defects often encountered in old motion pictures is presented. Also, the methodology of treating such sequences is proposed. Local defects such as white or black blotches or scratches are considered. In addition, an algorithm for removing a global type of damage-namely an irritating flicker phenomenon-is elaborated
