Abstract :
A method to evaluate the transmission performance margins of WDM systems, based on multiplex pre-emphasis optimisation, has been experimentally validated. We propose a method of pre-emphasis adjustment based on transmission performance measurement through foward error correction that allows the transmission performance margin of amplified systems to be determined even if the transmission is error-free
