Abstract
One of the important elements of undergraduate education is a practical experience in a bioengineering industry. This experience serves as a two way street, to expand the students experience and to educate industrial traditional fields about a modern bioengineering curriculum. In general, recent experience at UCSD has served to confirm the hypothesis, that placement of undergraduate students into industrial internship programs serves to expand the industrial base for the discipline
