Abstract :
The authors discuss the necessity of reevaluating the harmonic performance of an individual cement plant IEEE Std. 519-1981, which gives guidelines for harmonic control and recommended limits of harmonic disturbances in industrial power systems, is being revised. The impact of the new harmonic limits given in the revised standard is evaluated for a simple model of a cement plant, and the harmonic filter design procedures are described. The revised and upgraded IEEE Std. 519 recommends limitation of harmonic current injections from an industrial plant into the utility system and limitation of bus voltage distortion at the point of common coupling
