Abstract :
Field fiber measurements of second order polarisation mode dispersion (PMD) statistics confirm a theoretical approach for the probability of PMD induced transmission system outage. Simulations at 10 and 40 Gbit/s exhibit negligible outage increase even in the presence of high chromatic dispersion
