Abstract
Within the European Project “fibre amplifier measurement methods” the behaviour of the polarisation mode dispersion (PMD) in various types of optical fibre amplifiers has been studied it was found that the PMD of such devices is inherently deterministic and can be specified simply using a maximum tolerable value
