Abstract :
Polarization mode dispersion hampers development of ⩾10 Gb/s trunk lines but can be compensated by endless polarization controllers and birefringent fiber. We demonstrate automatic 10 Gb/s polarisation mode dispersion (PMD) compensation using a DHF cell with ~0.1 dB attenuation, 6 Vpp, applied voltage, and ~200 μs response time
