Abstract :
A novel device has been developed which is able to identify the unknown fluid resistance of elastic tubes, such as artificial blood tubes, from the measured water pressures by circulating pulsatile water flow in tubes with a roller pump. The device consists of two pressure sensors, an analog-to-digital transducer board, one roller pump with a constant revolution speed, a lowpass filter to cut off high-frequency noise, and a microcomputer with special software to identify the unknown resistance of the tube. Some experimental results for the identification are presented
