Abstract
The importance of reinterpreting the Schur-Cohn test as a lossless bounded realness criterion for rational transfer functions on the unit disk is discussed, and a concept of their lossless bounded real (LBR) realization is introduced. A LBR realizability condition is shown to be equivalent to a lossless bounded realness criterion and then is extended to a bounded real one, which will play a crucial role not only in the realization problem, but also in the inverse scattering problem, digital filter design, and numerical analysis
