Abstract :
Personal Access Communications System-Unlicensed B (PACS-UB) is a standard intended to operate in the band allocated for Unlicensed Personal Communication Services (UPCS) in the U.S. Because of this, the systems working according to PACS-UB, have to comply with the etiquette rules defined by FCC for interoperability in the UPCS band. These rules, and the ones corresponding to the portable access, are carried out based on measurements. This paper presents the analytical derivation of the downlink signal to interference ratio (SIR) probability density function (PDF), for systems operating under this standard. The mathematical expressions relate SIR PDF with the parameters of the system, i.e., the number of base stations, the frequency assigned to each base station, transmission power and distances, and separation floors between base stations, and the portable access
