Abstract
This paper presents the goals and status of the Jules Verne project, an ITEA project from the 5th call of that Eureka programme. The goal of the Jules Verne project was to create an effective hybrid implementation of MPEG4 and MHP to show that DVB and IP based terminals could be merged to provide the viewer with a product that is both economic in terms of silicon and middleware cost but usable for consumers and application developers
