Abstract :
The number of applications where a subset of all receivers is addressed with the same information, so called multicasting, is growing in most types of communication networks. In wireless personal communication systems, an effective integration of multicast services is required both from radio resource utilization and application point of view. We propose a combined centralized power control and connection priority removal algorithm for cellular radio systems with multicast services utilizing physical multicasting. Particularly, to be able to support applications with different connection quality requirements, we investigate the effects of connection priority on the link outage probability for unicast and multicast connections. The aim of the proposed scheme is to provide as many connections as possible with acceptable SIR in conformity with the applied priority scheme. The numerical results show that the system we propose outperforms a reference system using fixed transmitter power
