Abstract :
A procedure for estimating the optical thickness and density profile of stratospheric aerosols based on the solar occultation measurement of the Improved Limb Atmospheric Spectrometer (ILAS) is described. The ILAS will be installed on the Advanced Earth Observing Satellite (ADEOS) in 1996. The retrieval algorithm involves vertical structure inversion, which provides the profile of atmospheric extinction from ILAS transmittance data, and the iterative routine in respect of comparison of the simulated results with the measurements
