Abstract
In the paper, an attempt is made to develop Concurrent Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (CFMEA) of Component Based Software System (CBSS) using a graph theoretic approach. The proposed approach is an improvement over the present practiced procedures. Using the approach reliability evaluation of CBSS can be done effectively and extensively at the early design stage. The important feature of the proposed approach is that it takes into account structural and functional interactive complexity of CBSS concurrently. A digraph model and matrix approach is used to provide in depth analysis and evaluation of failure mode and effects by developing failure index. High failure index represents low reliability of CBSS. An illustrative example is discussed to show the applicability of the proposed approach.
