Abstract :
A semi-empirical BER function with two variables of carrier to noise ratio (CNR) and delay spread is proposed and the performance of the above techniques are compared using the BER function with a channel model that simulates existing mobile communication environments. The BER function is derived by introducing the concept of “efficient number of antenna elements” into the probability density function (PDF) of the array antenna output signals. For adaptive arrays with an equalization scheme, an array-combining decision feedback equalizer (DFE) is applied
