Abstract :
In order to decrease power inputs, it was suggested to disconnect part of the traction engines following train acceleration up to steady speed on the sections with the light track profile. This allowed the rest of the engines to operate with higher efficiency. Investigations were performed with the reequipped locomotives of VL 10 class. While investigating to improve the operation algorithm of power input analysis system per hauling operation the different modes of train drive were tested. As a result the mode of train drive different from the classical one was suggested. It consists in alternation of accelerations and stopways. So, the engines operate with the efficiency close to maximum. This paper presents experimental journeys to test the suggested mode of movement. In order to increase the experiment purity all journeys were performed with same locomotive with the constant engine-crew and trains with 5800-6000 t weight. According to the experimental journeys and the results of their processing it is possible to conclude about the undoubted economical effect of the suggest mode of the train. The savings mounted to 10% in odd direction of the considered haul distance that corresponds to 50,000 rubles per month. Based on the operation experience the reliability of the commutation equipment doesn´t raise doubts and can provide with the given mode of the train drive.
