  • Abstract
Intelligent power alarm monitoring (IPAM) has been an issue for many years in the data center facility management arena. Data Center managers in those centers where the space is leased/rented to others users/customers are very concerned about the loading on their power systems at the user level, as unbalanced loads and sudden overloads due to installation of new equipment, can bring operational havoc to any well planned center. This paper discusses the role an intelligent power alarm monitoring system can play in the daily the operation of a large data center, by bringing a significant sense of stability to the matter of power management. The paper will also show how the system allows for predictive power load analysis to highlight potential power problems in advance, together with advanced alarm handling allowing for efficient alarm routing. Interface capability to easily communicate with legacy equipment and integration connectivity to other devices/elements in the data center allow for a single browser based solution. Data export opportunities with a range of commercially available energy billing systems is also mentioned
