Abstract
This paper deals with a MAC-protocol for wireless ATM and investigates the performance of a fast collision resolution algorithm. We consider the impact of space division multiple access (SDMA) on the contention based uplink signalling phase. The influence of the ability to receive more than one terminal correctly within the same time and frequency slot on the collision resolution is studied. The number of required transmission slots and the resulting delays are considered. The behaviour of the derived model is shown, using values close to reality for the model parameters which have been obtained by stochastic simulation
